Early this week at TVI in New York

by admin on April 7, 2006

I had the opportunity this week to visit the TVI centers in NY and Chicago. The synergy in the NY studios is amazing. NY consultants are extraordinary, led by TVI’s VP Susan Sleeper and her associate Brian Patacca. I ran into NY casting director Jonathan Strauss (casting director Law and Order; SVU) who teaches a class Tuesday evenings at TVI. Also had the opportunity to catch up with Beau Bonneau, principal of the online casting service, LA Casting.

Los Angeles based actress and TVI career coach Martina Lotun and I hosted a workshop Monday evening in the Bondi Beach area of Sydney. Do you see any similarities between General George Patton and Martina?

Despite tempatures hovering in the high 90’s, Lee Donehue’s QuietOnSet event in North Melbourne was a huge success. Hundred’s of Melbourne area actors participated in the event. Guest speakers included Australian casting directors, Jan Russ from the Soap Opera “Neighbours” and Jodie Brearley McKenna who cast the Australian TV series “Blue Heelers”. I spoke for approximatley an hour on “Acting in America”.

If you were not able to make the event, a DVD of the event will be available soon. Email Lee Donehue for details.

Thursday, a luncheon with former TV Soap Star Paul Valley from the daytime dramas “Guiding Light”, “One Life to Live” and of course “Another World” where he spent seven years playing the role of Ryan Harrison.

Friday, early flight to DC, meeting with University theatre departments about the TVI Actors Symposium that we are planning to coincide with the finals at the Kennedy Centers American College Theatre Festival in April
