Caught a 6:00m flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport today. Spending the day in Chicago, dinner with Chicago talent agents and watching the workshop that TVI - New York career coach Kristi Funk is presenting at TVI Chicago tonight.

Arriving from NY tonight are talent agents Peter Kaiser from Henderson/Hogan Talent Agency and John Shea from Frontier Booking International, Inc. (FBI). They will be meeting Chicago actors on Saturday and Sunday.

MacWorld ‘07

by on January 8, 2007

I will be blogging from San Francisco this week during my 10th annual trip to MacWorld at the Moscone Center in downtown SF. What does this have to do with Showbusiness? Everything, besides, Apple did an amazing corporate profile on TVI a few years back and how our organization uses their hardware to grow our acting schools.

Actors arriving at LAX for Pilot Season?

by on January 4, 2007

airport.jpgWell, maybe this is a slight exaggeration, but maybe not by much. Without representation at this time of year, it would be naive to believe that you will end up booking a lead in a TV pilot. Statistically, you probably have a better chance in winning the California State Lottery.

Arrived in NYC for meetings

by on December 11, 2006

tvi-christmas.jpgNothing like Christmas time in New York City. After arriving at JFK around 7:00pm, checked into my favorite NY hotel, “The Regency” on Park and 61st and then a brisk walk down Fifth Avenue where this was my view.

by on November 15, 2006

sydney-actorpreneur.jpgAussie casting director, Ben Parkinson and Australian magnate Carmel Bullivant were gracious hosts Monday evening in Sydney. They hosted a small reception for me, my last night in Australia at the famed “Wildfire“, Sydney’s hottest and most exciting dining experience. in Darling Harbour.

The photo was the view from my seat!

Fiona’s and The Wolsey in London and now Wildfire, it has been a great year for restaurants on my travels.

Auckland to Sydney this afternoon

by on November 13, 2006

Departing on Air New Zealand’s 719 from Auckland to Sydney gets me in at 14:30, enough time to drop my stuff at the Sydney Hilton before meeting acclaimed actress Denise Roberts.

First up is with Australian actress Denise Roberts,
Principal Director of “Screenwise“, a Sydney based Film & TV Acting School for Actors. Denise is an Australian actress who has been working full time as a professional actor and director in theatre, film and television since 1980! Take a look at her body of work.
Denise is author of the Actor’s Advisory Manual, Get Your Act Together.
Afterward, met with Dean Carey, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Actors Centre Australia. He is the Author of the much acclaimed The Actors Audition Manual (published in 1985) and masterclass (published in 1995), both sold throughout Australia, New Zealand and also overseas. He was Head of Acting at WAAPA (1990-93) and was Associate Head of Acting at NIDA, where he taught for 12 years.

Needless to say, it has been an exhausting day of traveling and meetings.

Blogless in Seattle

by on October 28, 2006

As you may have noticed, Actor-Preneur has been off-line while the publishers at “Actors Blog Network” enhanced the technologies that produce this blog and the others in the ABN network.

I had spent the last two days in Seattle, Washington at my annual trip to one of my favorite geek conferences, “The Business Blog Summit“, produced by my friend, Steve Broback. It was this conference in 2005 that initiated the idea of the “Actors Blog Network“.

Über geeks Robert Scoble (affectionately known as “Scoble” by other geeks) and Chris Pirillo were in the house, among some of the worlds brightest bloggers and technologists.

United Airlines PS service is the best

by on October 3, 2006

Arrived last night at JFK for conferances at TVI in NY. If you happen to have a business class ticket, make sure you take United Airlines “PS” service.I sat in 5-A. Sit there only if you like it very cold. It is noted as a “Be Aware” seat according to my favorite airline seat guide, “seatguru.com.“. It is by the main door of the jet and is always freezing.

Actually, for you talent agents, casting directors and actors…check out Seat Guru, so you always get a great seat when you fly.
