In the States, you have SAG, AFTRA, AEA. In the UK, you have British Equity, Canada has ACTRA, and in Australia, the union that oversees the guidelines and protects actors is the MEAA, The Media Entertainment Arts and Alliance.
While I cannot stress enough the importance of understanding the Unions policies, how to obtain membership and how the Unions can protect you and an actor wherever you work.
I had time while in Sydney to meet with the administration and understand more of what they do for Australian Actors.

Hi there! Just wondering if American SAG union members can audition and find work in Australia or in other countries over seas? Or would they need to join those countries unions as well?
Not only would you need to join each countries respective actors unions, you also need to check the legalities of an American working in a foreign country As far as I understand, you would need a working visa in each country. You should absolutely confer with an attorney that specializes in immigration law.
Thanks so much!
